Nicki Minaj has been named a “pioneer of hip-hop” by the National Museum of African-American History & Culture.

Since it’s opening in December 2016, the museum seeks to highlight, African American athletes, musicians, activist, creatives, and many more. The museum deems Minaj’s appearance in it’s exhibit as “stemming from her groundbreaking her career as a female rapper (the highest-selling of all time) and her impactful look, sound and style.”

While some may question the use of the word “pioneer,” Minaj’s contribution to helping bring women back to the forefront in hip hop at a time where many had written them off cannot be denied. Take a peek at the exhibit below and let us know what you guys think. Will you be visiting?
