LET’S CHAT! IS ANYTHING WRONG HERE?: Nicki Minaj Facing Backlash from LGBT Community After Song Leaks With Alleged Homophobic Lyrics (LISTEN)

Nicki Minaj is facing criticism from some LGBT fans after homophobic lyrics resurface from old and leaked songs.

A Nicki Minaj track from 2011 recently leaked online where she raps about a man being “softer than a homosexual”, which led to fans uncovering more instances of what’s being labeled as homophobia in some of her old mixtape tracks and leaked songs. Minaj has yet to comment or apologize. Take a listen to the leaked clip which started the issue below:

Several Minaj songs were then referenced from past mixtapes, just to name a few, a line was lifted from Minaj’s mixtape track ‘Dead Wrong’ where she raps ‘First they love you, then they switch, yeah they switch like f*ggots’ and another critic then pointed out her track ‘Womp Womp’ where she raps “and you softer than them dudes, with their wrists bent.’

While this may not seem like major causes for upset to some, I believe we do have to admit with a large amount of Minaj’s fan base being made of homosexuals from various walks of life, those types of lines and words being used can definitely be seen as a bit problematic.

Minaj also received criticism in 2016 after the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando Florida. The attack was deemed the worst mass shooting in American history, many celebrities spoke out, offering condolences to those affected and even calling for stricter gun control laws. Nicki Minaj, however, did not comment. It was a move that ended up angering many of her fans – especially those in the LGBT community – and left many of them are asking for an explanation for her silence.

It all started when a Twitter user called the rapper out, writing “I’m kind of offended that Nicki could tweet about a song but can’t acknowledge the shootings in Orlando. :////”

Shortly thereafter, he claimed that Nicki unfollowed him because of the tweet. Nicki then started favoriting tweets that defended her right to tweet or not tweet as she sees fit.

What do you guys think? Is there anything to be offended about here or are people reaching?
