FORGIVE OR FORGET HER?: Camila Cabello Issues Public Apology For Past Racist Language – “I Was Uneducated and Ignorant”

Camila wants fans to know she has apparently grown out of using the N-Word.

Camila Cabello has issued a public apology after old racist internet posts from the singer re-appeared on Twitter. ‘When I was younger, I used language that I’m deeply ashamed of and will regret forever,’ she began. ‘I was uneducated and ignorant and once I became aware of the history and the weight and the truth behind this horrible and hurtful language, I was deeply embarrassed I ever used it.”

Camila’s been slammed for using the n-word to refer to her former Fifth Harmony bandmate Normani in allegedly leaked Facebook messages and there was also a deleted tweet in which Camila allegedly called President Barack Obama, “my n****” on her One Direction stan account.

But more recently, a thread came out that resurfaced Camila’s old Tumblr account — and it brings the receipts. The Tumblr was taken down after the Twitter thread went viral, but there are screenshots of her Tumblr that includes anti-Black and anti-Asian memes, use of the n-word and even posted a joke about Rihanna‘s intimate partner violence at the hands of Chris Brown. The person who originally published these screenshots has said she archived the Tumblr page on WayBackMachine before Camila’s team got it taken down.

The “Havana” singer herself has apologized for the backlash in the past, writing, “i get how anybody that doesn’t know me would think those things about me, i was immature and young and joking(not an excuse) but [I] apologize,” in a now-deleted tweet from 2013, but she’s apologizing now, again.

She continued, “I’m 22 now, I’m an adult and I’ve grown and learned and am conscious and aware of the history and the pain it carries in a way I wasn’t before. Those mistakes don’t represent the person I am or a person I’ve ever been. I only stand and have ever stood for love and inclusivity, and my heart has never, even then, had any ounce of hate of divisiveness. The truth is I was embarrassingly ignorant and unaware. I use my platform to speak out about injustice and inequality and I’ll continue doing that. I can’t say enough how deeply sorry and ashamed I feel, and I apologize again from the bottom of my heart.”

Most of the receipts have been scrubbed by Cabello’s team. Peep just a bit as well as her apology below. Do you forgive her?
