OH BABY, IT’S DEFINITELY UP: Cardi B Just Set All Types of Records As “Up” Becomes Her Fifth #1 On the Billboard Hot 100

While conservatives and her haters continue to treat her like public enemy number one, Bardi continues to rise above every narrative they place against her by adding another page in HERstory.

Cardi B just hit the world with a massive karate chop, going up with latest single “Up” as it becomes her latest track to snag the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Cardi B’s track record of success has proven to be unstoppable, and she hasn’t even dropped off her anticipated sophomore album yet. She has, however, delivered a pair of singles from the forthcoming project: the Megan Thee Stallion-assisted “WAP,” and her most recent release “Up.” While “WAP” proved to be a record banging banger itself, not to mention the bane of many people’s existence (Candace Owens included), proving that she could follow up “WAP” with another bang, Cardi made a big splash from the beginning on the Billboard Hot 100 with the record debuting in the Top 10.

Starting off at #2, “Up” becomes Cardi’s ninth Top 10 record of all-time on the Hot 100. According to Chart Data, the song quickly became the highest-debuting solo track by a female rapper this century on the chart, marking the first time since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” that a woman in rap hit such a high peak right off the bat all by herself. However, that isn’t where it stopped, with the latest rise “Up” just burned up a few more records (pun totally intended).

This time, on the Hot 100 chart dated March 27, Bardi’s “Up” is up from its previous peak at No. 2 and has now taken the No. 1 spot for the first time. “Up” is now Cardi’s fifth No. 1 hit, which extends her record for the most No. 1 songs by a female rapper. This also makes her the first female rapper with two No. 1 songs with no features on them (the first was “Bodak Yellow”). In the period between the week when “Bodak Yellow” went No. 1 in 2017 to now, Cardi is tied for the most No. 1 songs during that stretch, alongside Drake and Ariana Grande.

Cardi offered a quick reaction to the news, writing on Instagram, “I want God to come see me in my dreams when I take my nap today so I can kiss his feet and tell him how much I love him !!! Yoooooo sh*t is amazing yoooooo .I got no words .Actually I got a lot of words but I can’t type it all NUMBER 1!!!!!” She then went live to celebrate the news with her fans, revealing how good the news feels following all the negativity many have tried to throw her way as of late. We truly love to see it. With Cardi hard at work on finishing up her sophomore album, it truly is “UP” from here.
