LeToya Luckett shows off her multiple talents in the cinematic video for her new single “Back 2 Life.”
With a running time of eight minutes, the visual is more like a mini movie, allowing the former Destiny’s Child star to display her acting chops alongside actor Thomas Q. Jones.
The “Rosewood” actress and her ex-NFL player co-star begin the clip in what appears to be a happy relationship. As it evolves, however, suspicions arise, and questions are left unanswered. Then, when LeToya has had enough, she packs her bags and leaves.
“You ain’t living the life that you claim,” sings Luckett. “All of that shit is a game / I’ma just go through the pain / And get back to life.”
The story, however, isn’t over as Luckett promises a sequel.
Released in December, the Jo Blaq and YBZ-produced breakup anthem samples Soul II Soul’s classic “Back to Life (However Do You Want Me).” It’s the first single off the recently-divorced singer’s forthcoming album, due this spring.
