It seems a few more ladies have become card carrying members of Mariah Carey’s “I don’t know her” club, young singers Ariana Granda and Demi Lovato, to be exact. Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Sunday, Carey — who memorably stated in the early 2000s that she didn’t know Lopez despite the singer’s claims the two met repeatedly — played a round of “Plead the Fifth: Diva Edition” and revealed she doesn’t know Lovato or Grande, either.
“Demi Lovato, I didn’t know this, she kind of shaded you on social media,” Cohen said in reference to a June social media post in which Lovato defended Grande against Carey comparisons and said Carey was “unnecessarily rude.”
“She made assumptions about Ariana Grande,” Cohen continued, “and she said, ‘Mariah’s a legend and she’s so talented but she disses people. It’s nasty the way she treats Jennifer (Lopez).’ What would you say to Demi?”
“I don’t know her either and so I wouldn’t say anything to her,” the singer and Mariah’s World star answered. “She should come up, introduce herself to me, say, ‘Here’s my opinion. What do you think about it?’ That’s how you handle shit, OK?”
Prior to Carey’s response about Lovato, Cohen asked the crooner if she knew Grande. “No,” she replied, “I don’t know — honestly, I’m not familiar. I listen to hip-hop more than I listen to pop music.”
