ISSA BOP OR ISSA FLOP?: Ciara is Back At it With Another Inspirational Anthem – “DOSE” (LISTEN)

Ciara recruits marching band percussion and brass for her banging new single “Dose,” a high-spirited anthem aimed at uplifting women.

The song plays like a motivational speech aimed at listeners and the vocalist herself. “I’m a groundbreaking woman/ I get loud when I wanna/ Put me down, I’ll go harder,” she sings over brass blasts and rattling snares. “When you fall, fall, just get back up again.”

Backed by a drumline beat, the single is reminiscent of high school pep rallies. In conjunction with the release, Ciara also dropped a lyric video, which features inspirational black and white images of women and young girls, both from the present and past.

“Dose” follows Ciara’s July-issued track “Level Up,” which she paired with a dance-heavy video and a remix featuring Missy Elliott. While the singer has yet to detail her upcoming seventh album, she has said “I’m super, super excited about my album,” she said of the project, which follows 2015’s Jackie. “I’ve been having so much fun working on it. I actually stated recording a little bit of it before I gave birth to Sienna so that was really fun; dancing around with my big belly in the studio. But I’ve been working on it for a little while, and it’s really coming together.”
