CONGRATS IN ORDER: Nicki Minaj’s Album “Queen” Has Now Been Certified Platinum By the RIAA; Becomes First Female Rapper with Four Platinum Albums

Just five months after it’s release, Nicki Minaj’s ‘Queen’ provides her with her latest platinum plaque.

Nicki Minaj’s fourth studio album has reached platinum status. The rollout for Queen seemed to have an interesting start after Travis Scott’s Astroworld beat Queen for the top spot on Billboard’s 200 chart, all hell broke loose. Minaj took shots at Scott’s retail methods, blamed Kylie Jenner and Stormi for helping boost Astroworld sales, and pulled the sexism card. It appeared that she felt robbed out of earning the number one album. The drama was unbefitting of a Queen, but now her hip-hop highness can feel vindicated as Queen has hit the coveted platinum mark.

Some may remember a report shortly after the album’s release (back in October to be exact) where an announcement was made by Minaj herself, followed by her label Republic Records, that the album was eligible for platinum status, however, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) had other plans as Minaj’s original attempt at platinum certification was denied. The denial stemmed from Minaj including her Tekashi 6ix9ine collaboration “FeFe” as a last minute addition to the album which helped push sales, however the RIAA refused to allow the record’s units to work in Minaj’s favor as it was ultimately a Tekashi song and would later count towards his own album release, “Dummy Boy.” While Nicki made no mention of the ordeal, her label Republic Records deleted their social media posts referencing the album going platinum at that time.

With all of the drama behind her, “Queen” finally hitting the platinum mark appears to be a bittersweet victory for Minaj and her fans as its becomes Nicki’s fourth album to be certified platinum by the RIAA, also making her the first female rapper to ever accomplish such a feat following behind her albums “Pink Friday,” “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” and “The Pinkprint.” With all the drama from this era seemingly behind her, hopefully this will be the beginning of Minaj’s name being back in headlines for what it should be, her musical talent. Congratulations Nicki.
