Megan Thee Stallion doesn’t think Dupri is in a place to criticize anyone.
So So Def’s very own Jermaine Dupri has been instrumental in helping to shape the careers of some of our favorite top-selling hip hop and R&B artists, but that doesn’t make him above criticism. He recently told PEOPLE that he was unable to name his favorite female rapper in the game right now because, according to him, it seems as if they’re all spitting bars about the same thing. He claimed that they all were “strippers rapping” and no one artist was trying to put themselves on the map as the best above the others.
The social media backlash was swift following the comments, deservingly so, with many female rappers quickly shutting down Dupri’s claims such as Cardi B, Doja Cat, and even Ari Lennox who made a diss record to Dupri. Rising female rapper Megan Thee Stallion is the latest to spreak out as she was asked about the topic during a sit down interview with the folks over at 99 Jamz.
“Who is he? I’m not saying he’s all the way washed up but his opinion doesn’t matter to me or to no b*tch that’s doing their thing. Like, who the f*ck are you even talking to? Who you mad it? Somebody must’ve pissed him off that day.”
Before continuing,
“Female rappers are f*cking popping right now. I don’t give a f*ck about what we rapping about, you can’t say we ain’t taking over right now. If the mother f*cker was a stripper or she was a college student, a nurse, it don’t matter, she doing her thing.”
